We are introducing a Consultant Spotlight Q&A Series highlighting our consultants across each of the three divisions within the Compass Associates brand. The latest article in this series will introduce Stuart Cousins from the Healthcare and Specialist Care division.  

What is your role and how long have you worked at Compass?

I’ve been in the business just under 12 years and I’m the Director of our Healthcare, Specialist Care and Education divisions which sit under our Compass Associates brand. I’m responsible for 28 consultants geographically covering the Midlands, South of England and Wales. My teams operate from entry level up to senior non-retained work, we have experience delivering on large accounts in addition to bespoke assignments across Clinical, Operational, Business Development and Quality.

What markets do you cover?

Adult Social Care, Specialist Education, Children’s Residential, Mental health, Private Acute, Independent Surgical Hospitals, Ophthalmic, Oncology, Diagnostics Community, Digital Health, Fertility, Cosmetics, Aesthetics, Dental, Veterinary, Children’s Nurseries and Consumer Healthcare.

Advice for job seekers

Current changes you foresee within the sector?

There is continuous growth in the sector and a constant drive to attract the best talent. Adult Social Care, Diagnostics, Community and Private acute are particularly seeing growth due to ongoing waiting lists within the NHS. Whilst all providers are facing traditional challenges to attract and retain clinical and support workers we have found a genuine need to clear a high volume of vacancies in a short time.

Career highlight within Compass

Over the last five years, I have grown from managing a team of five consultants to 28 with further growth predicted in the coming years.

A bit about you outside of work

I have two children (one newborn) that keep me particularly busy. Outside of this, I’m the current champion of the work fantasy football league, and also play football and basketball in my spare time. I also love a BBQ!
