What is your role and how long have you worked at Compass?
I have worked for Compass Associates for 9 years, having joined the company in 2014. Currently, I am a Senior Consultant, with a focus on Senior Management level recruitment within the Specialist Care division.
What markets do you cover?
My remit focuses on Adult Social Care, Looked After Children, Specialist Education & Mental Health markets.
Advice for job seekers
My best advice is to be open-minded and be prepared to put yourself out there. There’s only so much that can be learnt from reading a job specification or an online advert. Meeting people is the best way to understand if a role or company is right for you. I like to use the expression: “You have to kiss a lot frogs!”
Current changes you foresee within the sector?
Social Care is an ever-evolving market, however further reforms can be expected to tackle the main challenges facing the sector; such as funding, staffing and ensuring services are fit for purpose. I forecast further growth within Supported Living, particularly Mental Health step down services.
Career highlight within Compass
Too many to specify a single highlight, but highlights include completing my REC accreditation, multiple senior appointments which have led to repeat business and long terms relations with major accounts.
A bit about you outside of work
I’m married with two boys (8yrs & 6yrs). We’re an active family and enjoy being outdoors. When I’m not playing taxi to my kids’ various sports clubs, I enjoy playing 5-aside football (having long retired from 11 aside), golf and sailing.
