Compass Associates’ interim practice were referred to an Elderly Care charity based in the South of England from sister brand, Compass Executives, following a successfully completed senior search. The charity were looking for a recruitment partner who had a strong network of interim leaders who could operate at Board level, as they were looking at bringing an interim Chief Executive into the business.
The small charity had been severely impacted by COVID, as well as being in close proximity to a number of larger, elderly care providers, and as such were struggling financially. Consequently, the provider had an urgent need to recruit an interim Chief Executive who would devise a three-year business plan. It was equally important that the successful candidate would be closely aligned to their cultural values, and understood the nuances of a charitable organisation, in comparison to a more corporate environment.
The brief was clear: the right candidate would be comfortable being hands-on in the business; drive commercial performance; increase occupancy levels; and deliver a road-map for long-term growth at the organisation.
Six CV’s were submitted, all of whom were interviewed as part of a two-stage interview process. The current Chief Executive who would be stepping down, and one of the Trustees from the Board; followed by a second face-to-face interview with the remaining Trustees. The identified candidate accepted first time, and had started in their role within five days of being offered.
