Compass Associates were exclusively mandated in the search for a Hospital Director for one of the UK’s leading providers in specialist care.
This independent mental health care provider has an ongoing and well-established partnership with Compass Associates and partner brand Compass Executives. The client approached Compass Associates to work on this particular role with the mindset of a fresh outlook on the requirements needed. This was a key appointment as without this post filled the senior management would otherwise be looking at disbanding this vital service.
The process started with an initial meeting between the Chief Operating Officer, Head of Recruitment and the Specialist Services team. This was to discuss the requirements due to the urgency of fulfilling this role and to have a clear plan of action on expectations and communications.
Once this was agreed, Compass Associates started by creating a commutable radius around the provider’s location. This enabled the Consultant to create a candidate shortlist of around 50 people within an hour commute. The list was then narrowed down even further to around 15 people due to their experience and suitability for the role. The 15 potential candidates were approached with six being interested in putting themselves forward.
Compass Associates then created a progress report of the candidate selection journey so far to present to the provider’s senior management team as part of the regular communications. Out of the six potential candidates, one of these was identified as suitable for what was required of the role.
Once the interview process had been completed, the candidate was offered the role after one interview and accepted straight away. The overall process took around 5-8 weeks from being mandated to offer acceptance.
