Compass Associates’ Specialist Care division supported a leading private equity backed mental health provider in the appointment of a Hospital Director for the business.

Following a recent acquisition of a small mental health provider in a geographically appealing location, the client was looking for support from a trusted recruitment partner who could supply high calibre candidates as part of a key turnaround project following a “Requires Improvement” CQC rating. In addition, the recently purchased business complemented the long-term strategy of the client who were looking to grow their presence in the UK mental health and children’s services markets – mirroring what they had already established overseas.

Compass Associates were awarded the mandate on account of the historic relationship between the two parties, and on account of the strong track record of delivery between sister company, Compass Executives – who had placed their UK Managing Director, and UK CFO – and consequently introduced the senior leadership team to the appropriate consultants at Compass Associates. The client is considered leaders in their respective field, and as such sought at peer level a recruitment agency who would reflect their levels of exacting high standards.

The brief was clear: the client stipulated that they were looking for a nurse-qualified Hospital Director who had prior experience in turnaround projects, and a demonstrable track record in re-vamping services into in-patient and out-patient units, specifically for eating disorders.

Compass Associates submitted five profiles for the role across multiple bandings, including an interim trouble-shooting expert who was onboarded to support the urgent requirement. In parallel, Compass Associates ran a concurrent process for a permanent headcount, where the successfully appointed candidate was offered following a three-stage interview process.
