Compass Associates supported a family-run elderly care provider of both residential and nursing care, to recruit an outstanding Deputy Clinical Manager position for the eighty-bedded home.

This was the first time the provider had engaged in the services of Compass Associates, owing to previous poor experiences with other recruiters causing some initial hesitation. However, a thorough introductory call covering off the consultant expertise in previous recruitment campaigns for this type of role, similar clinical assignments successfully undertaken locally, and the evident knowledge and experience of the consultant offered reassurance and confidence that they could deliver.

The provider was looking to open a new complex care unit on the site of the existing home and needed to recruit a strong clinical specialist within both elderly and frail nursing, as well as some experience of complex care and dementia care. The candidate would also need to evidence a commercial awareness of budgets, cost modules, rota management and marketing knowledge to ensure occupancy.

The consultant undertook a site visit to the service to ensure they understood as best as possible the organisation’s culture, values, and history of the business. During this meeting the Compass Associates process was re-clarified, and an explanation of the qualification (both client communications and candidate engagement) which would be undertaken as part of the identification process.

A shortlist of four candidates was submitted to the client, of whom three were invited to interview. A two stage interview process was conducted before the successful candidate was identified, offered and accepted – with the new Deputy Clinical Manager starting in less than six weeks from initial discussion.
