Summary
Compass is proud to be working with one of the countries top Adult social care providers who are seeking an experienced Service Manager to oversee the management and delivery of exceptional services for adults with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD). The successful candidate will hold responsibility for ensuring the service complies with all regulatory standards, maintains high-quality care, and delivers excellent customer service in line with organizations mission, values, and policies.
The role will require you to work within a 10-bedded home with adults, you’ll be ensuring that the daily operations of the home runs smoothly and maintaining the quality standards set by the company and the government.
Key Responsibilities
As the Service Manager, you will have the following key responsibilities:
• Ensure the service holds and maintains the appropriate registration in accordance with regulatory bodies.• Lead and direct all staff within your service, fostering a culture of excellence, and ensuring high standards of care.• Oversee recruitment, selection, ongoing training, development, and performance management of staff to meet national care standards.• Manage disciplinary, grievance, and whistle blowing matters promptly and in line with procedures.• Develop and implement training plans in consultation with the Learning and Development team.• Monitor, review, and improve service delivery to ensure it meets quality standards.Handle complaints and compliments effectively, resolving issues professionally to minimize conflict.• Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and implementation of their requirements.Work with professional colleagues to develop and manage the service’s budget, reporting on financial progress.• Ensure compliance with the companies’ health and safety policies and procedures, taking appropriate actions following audits.
Essential Requirements
To succeed in this role, candidates must possess:
• A recognised nursing or social care qualification and registration• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care.• Extensive experience in a supervisory or management capacity in a care environment.• A commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of standards and legislation.• A willingness to travel and stay away overnight if necessary.• A genuine commitment to Leonard Cheshire’s values and ethos.
Key Competencies and Skills
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
• Strong people and communication skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team.• A thorough understanding of financial data, with the ability to manage budgets, analyse spreadsheets, and identify cost savings.• Knowledge of employment practices and Health and Safety legislation.• A clear understanding of the regulatory framework and legal environment in which the service operates.• Highly developed IT skills, particularly with standard Microsoft packages.• Experience in partnership working with various stakeholders and the ability to negotiate effectively.• Knowledge of marketing and fundraising techniques is advantageous.
