Hours: 37.5hrs/week

Location: Home-based with travel around the West Midlands

Salary: £35,300

*Must have a UK driving license and own car*


Compass Associates are working with an independent provider of children’s residential and specialist education services, to recruit a qualified Psychotherapist or Creative Therapist to join them on a full-time permanent basis.

This is a newly create role where you’d work directly with looked after children who have complex needs and challenging behaviours due to backgrounds of trauma, attachment difficulties, learning difficulties, autism or multiple placement breakdowns. You’d visit the residential homes in your region, to carry out assessments, set achievable goals and deliver therapeutic interventions to children aged 8-17. Your role will also involve giving therapeutic advice to the residential support staff, be involved in internal staff training and continuously review and update the children’s therapeutic goals.

You would be part of the wider Therapy Team which includes Psychologists, Creative Therapists, Psychotherapists, Occupational Therapists and SALTs.


This role is home-based but covers residential homes across the West Midlands, which you will need to visit on a regular basis. Candidates can be based anywhere in the region such as Birmingham, Coventry, Telford, Burton upon Trent, Kidderminster, Lichfield, Solihull, Leamington Spa and surrounding towns.

Essential criteria:

  • Must be a qualified Psychotherapist or Creative Therapist (e.g. Art, Music, Drama or Play Therapist)
  • Full and clear registration with the HCPC, BACP, BABCP or UKCP
  • UK driving license and own car
  • Experience working with children and young people
  • Makaton training would be desirable but is not essential

Interview Process

One stage: Teams interview with the Head of Therapy and a Senior Therapist.
