PBS Lead – Specialist School & College – Autism & Learning Disabilities

Location: St Helens

Salary: £43,500 + £47,500 DOE

*Must have a qualification in Positive Behaviour Support*

Compass Associates is proudly working with an Autism Accredited, non-maintained, specialist school and college, to recruit a PBS Lead to join them on a full time, permanent basis.

The school and college provide specialist education and therapeutic support for children and young adults (ages 5 – 25) who have a diagnosis of Autism plus additional complex needs, challenging behaviours or learning disabilities. All pupils have an EHCP and the school offers a range of therapeutic support including Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Equine Therapy, Music Therapy and Rebound Therapy.

The PBS Lead is a newly created role where you will work directly with pupils, by carrying out functional behavioural assessments, lead on PBS support plan formulation and contribute to EHCPs. You’d work closely with the Head of Therapy (who is trained in PBS as well as being an experienced Occupational Therapist) to develop the new PBS provision, upskill junior colleagues on PBS and work collaboratively with teaching and support staff.

Candidate criteria:

  • Degree in a relevant health and social care discipline, e.g. Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Psychotherapy, Nursing or similar health-care related course
  • Qualification in Positive Behaviour Support
  • Strong background working with children and/or young adults with autism, learning disabilities and challenging behaviours
  • Experience delivering training and supervising junior colleagues
  • Qualified PROACT SCIPr UK ® Instructor (desirable)

Interview Process

Face to face interview on site with the CEO and Head of Therapy.
