£45,000 – £50,000 + £4800 Car Allowance + Bonus

Essential Criteria

  • Commercial acumen with the ability to negotiate and achieve revenue targets.
  • Strong communication skills, demonstrated by either a strong track record in either a sales-focused role or a more operations-oriented role in the children's care sector.
  • Must own a car and have a valid driver's license.

Preferred Criteria

  • Commercial awareness gained from working in the children's social care sector at management level.
  • Experienced at business development within the specialist education or social care sectors.
  • Professional experience in a Business Development Manager post or equivalent title.
  • Already has established contacts in the sector.

Compass Associates are proud to be partnering with a leading provider of children's specialist education and care services to recruit a Commissioning Manager who can promote the business with local authorities, leading to new admissions in their services.

The Role
The Commissioning Manager will be responsible for obtaining, managing, and placing new residents. This will be a fast-paced role with lots of variety, building deep-rooted partnerships with key stakeholders internally and externally with local authorities to identify their needs and position the group's high-quality services to meet such needs. Furthermore, the Commissioning Manager will oversee the smooth transition of service leavers and ensure that the process is organised and robust. Most of your time will be spent out in the field, supporting teams across the north east local authorities and otherwise working from home.

The Candidate
The ideal candidate will be well-versed in how business development and commissioning works; they will already have established contacts within the sector/region. Most importantly, they will possess a firm understanding of the specialist children's care sector – how homes operate on a day-to-day basis and how the referral process works. Applicants must be comfortable communicators, with strong prioritization skills and a track record of commercial success.

Interview Process
There will be a two-stage interview process:

  • A Teams interview with the Business Development Director
  • A formal interview with one of the group's senior Directors
