Compass Associates are proud to be working alongside an established social care provider, to help recruit an experienced Assistant Manager for their 5-bed Residential Service supporting children with learning disabilities, complex needs and behaviours that may challenge.

The Candidate

My client is looking for someone with previous management experience within a social care setting, with experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities, autism and other complex needs. You will be overseeing the efficient delivery and development of the service whilst working closely alongside the Registered Manager, where together you will ensure the children receive the best care. You will possess a deep working knowledge of health and social care, particularly in relation to Ofsted rules and regulations. Moreover, they will also require strong people management and communication skills, as well as sound commercial understanding.

Salary and Benefits

A salary of £27’800-£30’150 per annum (dependent on experience) with benefits including:

Essential Criteria

  • Strong leadership skills, promote a positive culture
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a managerial role
  • Experience of supporting individuals and teams through the effective use of behavioural support
  • Strong communication skills
  • QCF Level 3 or equivalent achieved
  • Strong numeracy, literacy and computer skills
  • A broad knowledge of learning disabilities


The role is located just outside of Chippenham and is commutable from Bath, Swindon, Malmesbury, Calne, Corsham, and Melksham.

Interview Process

The interview process involves an initial formal interview including a presentation, competency based questions and a written analysis, then a second interview involves a visit to the service.
