Manchester 10k for Mental Health Charity
We actively support any charitable event that employees identify and wish to take part in. Three runners from our Manchester office (and Max’s dad!) decided they wanted to take up the challenge of the annual Simply Health Manchester 10k. The course takes you through the centre of the city, past Old Trafford and then back into the city centre.
The team chose to support a small, local charity called Back On Track Manchester. The charity’s aims are to provide disadvantaged adults with the tools to make lifelong changes. Their centre in the city offers a variety courses, work experience and support for anyone who has experienced homelessness, has mental health issues or struggled with alcohol or drug abuse.
We are delighted that donations surpassed the teams target of £500! This money goes directly to Back On Track and will go towards their ongoing recovery work and towards the running of their learning centre which sees up to 1000 people a year.
“This was a tremendous day, the weather was on our side which provided the perfect platform for some sterling performances from our runners, all of whom achieved finishing times of under one hour. It’s a privilege to be able to raise money for such a great charity such as Back On Track who help to provide mental health support, steps towards rehabilitation and recovery from drug and alcohol abuse, issues that plague Manchester and are huge contributing factors towards the large homeless population here. Once again I am overwhelmed with the efforts of my team and generosity of families, friends and colleagues here at Compass.” Adam Brenton, Divisional Manager – Manchester
Well done to the team for taking part and raising a fantastic sum for a worthwhile cause.
