Newly Qualified Speech & Language Therapist – Autism School
Salary: £24,907 per annum
Compass Associates are excited to be working with a specialist provider of children’s residential and education services to recruit a newly qualified Speech & Language Therapist on a full time, permanent basis.
You would be based at a specialist residential school for children aged 8-19 who have learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders and challenging behaviours. Some of the children have sensory difficulties and many have complex communication needs due to being non-verbal, requiring alternative methods of communication such as Makaton, PEC and BSL. You will be closely supported by a Senior Speech & Language Therapist, Speech and Language Therapy Assistants, Assistant Educational Psychologists, Lead Educational Psychologist, Activity Leader, Occupational Therapists, Music Therapist and Teaching/Care Staff. Your role will involve carrying out thorough assessments, formulating therapy plans and delivering 1:1 and group therapy sessions.
Commutable from: Lincoln, Newark, Sleaford, Market Rasen, Wragby, Welton, Louth, Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Gainsborough, Horncastle, Grantham, Nottingham, Mansfield, Worksop, Ollerton and nearby towns.

The successful candidate must have:
  • A degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Keen interest in working with children who have autism, learning disabilities and associated mental health conditions and/or challenging behaviours
  • Further training in Makaton or BSL (desirable)
