£50,000 + Benefits  
Full Time, Permanent        
Compass Associates are working with a leading specialist veterinary centre for small animals to recruit a Hospital Manager in Stockton-on-tees.    
The post holder will be responsible for the operational management of the Centre. The overriding aim is to lead, motivate and support the practice team in developing their strategic plans and budgets through the delivery of a consistent approach to all management, operational and quality systems.        
Major Goals:  
  • Responsible for the delivery of the annual business plan, budget and the three year operating plan, in order to meet the Board’s expectations and enhancement of the business value.  
  • Support the Clinical Director in the delivery and development of high quality services, achieved through the involvement of clients, employees and stakeholders  
  • Effective management and development of operations to ensure effective and safe delivery of quality services within budget.  
  • Manage processes within the regulatory and ethical framework within which the sector is required to work.    
  • Leadership across the Centre and management of volume and financial targets for operational services.  
  • Ensure that business priorities and requirements are achieved to deliver, (both within and outside the Centre), professional and exemplary services in support of their status as a leading veterinary provider in the UK.  
  • Oversee all administration processes to ensure smooth functioning of day-to-day activities.  
Main Duties & Responsibilities:  
  • Deliver the agreed service elements within the budget, demonstrating commercial focus, a structured approach, intelligence and enthusiasm.  
  • Ensure that the performances of the Centre’s operations, both clinical and non-clinical are efficient, value adding and delivered within budget.  
  • Establish, in conjunction with Clinical Director and Operations Director, and deliver clear performance indicators, both quantitative and qualitative, for the business. These should be informed by targets, which will significantly improve operational performance, with delivery closely monitored and steps taken to address any inadequacy/under performance.  
  • Work alongside the Clinical Director and Facilities Manager to oversee facilities & premises management.  
  • Contribute to the development of practice strategy through a thorough, current understanding of both national and local policies as well as competitive forces.  
  • Work with marketing to deliver a programme to enhance the business through advertising, PR and delivery of CPD.  
Responsibilities and accountabilities:  
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators for Operational Services and provide monthly reports to the Operations Director.  
  • Oversee systems used throughout the Centre to ensure patient, client/visitors and staff safety, which goes well -beyond compliance with health and safety legislation.  
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • At least 5 years’ operational experience within the veterinary or healthcare sector
  • Good commercial acumen
  • Demonstrates appropriate level of understanding in the principles and practices of working in a regulated – profession
  • Effective team leader whilst able to work collaboratively with other key role holders
  • Experienced and credible communicator
  • Inclusive approach to all interactions
