Creating more Dementia Friends in Portsmouth
Compass Associates once again invited a representative from the Alzheimer’s Society to deliver a session about Dementia and the Dementia Friends initiative. Dementia Friends’ aim is to transform how the country perceives Dementia.
The session served as a refresher for longer serving members of staff who have had training in the past and to give newer employees an insight into what it is like to have Dementia and how they can support those with the condition in our community.
We welcomed our local Dementia Champion, Eloise Bouron to our Portsmouth head office where she talked about the causes of Dementia, how a person with Dementia thinks and feels and what we can do to help and support someone with the condition.
“Eloise held a really informative awareness session for our Care Home division, which really helped us all understand how a person can live well with Dementia and how we can help our local community by becoming Dementia Friends ourselves. It was a great experience and I think we all learnt a lot.” Jodie Kemp, Divisional Manager and Charity Committee Lead
We look forward to inviting Eloise back in the future to deliver more sessions across the rest of the business.
