Manchester Marathon Wrap for Children’s Charity

3rd December 2019
"Christmas is a time for giving"; this year our Manchester office decided to take that sentiment to heart for their Christmas charity appeal. 1 in 3 children in the UK are living in poverty and Cash4Kids: Mission Christmas works to ensure that disadvantaged children have a Christmas gift to open on Christmas Day. In 2018, the charity raised over £21.4 million and supported over 1 million children. Our team began by collectively purchasing gifts for children of varying ages to donate for this Christmas.  In addition, they created a fundraising page so that the charity themselves could also buy more presents, and cover the costs of wrapping and distributing the gifts.  The team were able to top this total up with a very successful cake sale too!

Great South Run 2019 – Complete!

24th October 2019
It was a bright and clear day on Sunday 20th October, as our team gathered on the seafront to take part in the 30th Great South Run.  This is the fifth year we have entered the run and submitted our biggest team ever, of 13 runners, into the Business Challenge. It was great to see some new members of staff excited to be involved alongside employees who look forward to the race each year.  Both the running team and our charity committee discussed a number of good causes and decided that this year we would fundraise for Emmaus.  Emmaus was founded over 70 years ago in France in a bid to provide support to those who had lost their homes following the Second World War.  The charity came to the UK in the early 1990s and has since created almost 30 communities throughout the country, all with the aim to provide more than just a temporary bed for the night.

World Mental Health Day 2019

10th October 2019
At Compass Associates we understand that poor mental health can be just as impactful to our employees lives as their physical health. On World Mental Health Day, we look back on the positive steps we have taken as a business over the last 12 months to create awareness, improve and support our employee's mental health. Back in July, we launched our partnership with Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provider Health Assured.  This portal is designed to allow our employees to anonymously access help and advice when overcoming problems with their mental well-being. Also in July, we welcomed our local Mental Health Trainer to the business to train a group of staff members in understanding things that can affect mental health as well as identifying potential symptoms in their colleagues.
