Great South Run for Homelessness Charity

13th September 2019
When the leaves start to turn on the leaves we know that Autumn is truly on it's way, which means that the Great South Run is also not too far away. This year we welcome a few new faces to the Business Challenge team alongside some old hands at the race.  This is our fifth year of entering the challenge and our biggest running team to date.  As always our charity committee discussed a number of good causes to support and have chosen Emmaus. Emmaus was founded over 70 years ago in France in a bid to provide support to those who had lost their homes following the Second World War.  The charity came to the UK in the early 1990s and has since created almost 30 communities throughout the country, all with the aim to provide more than just a temporary bed for the night.

Cupcake Day for Alzheimer’s Society

19th June 2019
Fundraising and volunteering are actively encouraged at Compass Associates, especially when the cause is healthcare related. In the time it takes to bake a batch of cupcakes, six people will be develop with Dementia.  Dementia and Dementia related diseases have overtaken both cancer and heart disease as the UK's biggest killer; there is currently no known cure.  Cupcake Day has raised over £2 million since 2016 with funds going towards vital research, support services and Dementia care. On Friday 14th June, we baked and caked up a storm for 2019's Cupcake Day.  And it wasn't just cupcakes on the menu; the delicious array of savoury treats included sausage, goats cheese and caramelised onion rolls, sausage plait, cheese and chive muffins and even toad in the hole!

Manchester 10k for Mental Health Charity

22nd May 2019
At Compass Associates we have built a culture that encourages employees to take part in internal charitable events and to donate their time to good causes. We actively support any charitable event that employees identify and wish to take part in.  Three runners from our Manchester office (and Max's dad!) decided they wanted to take up the challenge of the annual Simply Health Manchester 10k.  The course takes you through the centre of the city, past Old Trafford and then back into the city centre. The team chose to support a small, local charity called Back On Track Manchester.  The charity's aims are to provide disadvantaged adults with the tools to make lifelong changes.  Their centre in the city offers a variety courses, work experience and support for anyone who has experienced homelessness, has mental health issues or struggled with alcohol or drug abuse.
